I just finished caring for a non-verbal autistic boy in the afternoons. My responsibilities included meal preparation, transportation, and life skills including physical and mental activities to enhance his daily life. My best attributes in this situation are my patience, persistence, and sense of caring for the situation for the young boy. My previous experience (15years) was assisting in the afternoon care of a family of seven children which involved transportation, food preparation (snacks), and homework help. My interest outside of working with autism is coaching. For the past 21 years I've coached 12-18-year-old girls in travel softball, a year round endeavor which allows me to deal with multiple personalities but still with the same goal of maximizing the players' potential. I practiced Optometry for over 20 years ultimately selling my practice.
