As the oldest child of immigrant parents, I learned how to care for and raise children from a young age. From the age of 7, I was taking care of both my infant brother as well as my 5-year-old brother. Throughout middle school and high school I would watch the children and babies from church members. In college I began to tutor and mentor high school kids. For the past 2 years I have been a milieu counselor for youth in the system. Each age group as something unique about them. Babies (2yo & younger) are THE ultimate miracle and blessing. They have the ability to inspire anyone they come into contact with. From ages 3-6, they are the most honest they will ever be and vocal about it. Ages 7-10 are when they are beginning to really learn and realize things. Ages 11-14/15 are when they are most vulnerable and willing to learn, they need to be kept around people who genuinely care for them. Ages 16-18 are the most stubborn of all but if you show them respect they will give it back tenfold.
