I have a twin brother with Asperger's Syndrome (now just referred to as autism spectrum disorder), so I am very familiar with those on the autism spectrum. I have experience with the Medicare program Public Partnerships, which provides in-home care for those with disabilities, special needs, or chronic illnesses. I spent the year after high school caring for a 7-year-old boy with severe autism; he required constant supervision, meal preparation, and hygiene care. The last few years I have cared for a 15-year-old boy with Prader Willi Syndrome. This rare disorder causes an insatiable appetite, along with behavioral challenges and learning difficulties. I helped with homework and meal preparation, along with providing endless activities to distract from his hunger.
