My name is Melody. I started my nursing career working with special needs, I feel this is where my heart really is. I worked in a facility setting with many different diagnosis, I also worked in a Catholic Church facility with special needs women, we went on a vacation with Six ladies out of state to an Amish setting. And I work with a Special needs young lady right now, age 21, She has Rhett's. I have worked with her for the last 4 years and will continue to work with her as needed. Her needs include: feeding, changing, giving meds thru port in her belly, sometimes we stay in and sometimes not. I take her home with me, we also go out to eat, shopping or to fairs and festivals, she is ambulatory but use a stroller for long activities and She is non-verbal, she communicates with me thru body language, I do not know sign language. I have worked with the visually and hearing impaired.
