I have had a lot of experiences in caring for people with special needs. I worked at a school called The Shield Institute for two years, which is a school for children, teens, and adults with special needs, such as autism, cerebral palsy, developmental disabilities, speech impediments, and much more. I worked side by side with speech pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and special education teachers. My position at The Shield Institute was that of a teacher's aide, and I worked in the classrooms helping children learn new skills in reading, and writing, as well as helping them improve their social skills. I am passionate about what I do because helping a child in gaining the gift of language or helping them in any other way, where improvement can be seen is the greatest reward one can possibly ever feel.
