About Melissa

Shortly after graduating with my degree in Art Education, I spent a summer tutoring a middle school graduate in art to help them prepare for their first year of high school. I was able to help them gain the confidence and skills to enter a rigorous art program. Throughout the past school year I have been working with a sixth grade student on their reading & writing skills. Their grades in these areas have improved significantly and they are much more confident reading aloud and structuring their writing. I have also worked with 4H groups on collaborative art projects, edited peer papers and lesson plans in college, and assisted high school students with their essays and assignments in one on one sessions. As a substitute teacher, I have experience tutoring and teaching a wide range of ages. My passion is art and creativity, in all of their forms. My goal is to help each student grow the tools they need to express themselves in art and in words.
