I was exhausted from taking care of my mom singlehandedly as her condition was declining and she was completely dependent on me for everything but breathing. She was terrified to go to a nursing home home and I promised her I would never put her in one. We couldn't afford to go through an agency to get help and COVID had limited the hospice volunteers that visit homes from time to time. Melissa was highly recommended by my mom's hospice team. She quickly became my mom's other "daughter" and I have come to love her like a sister. My mom wasn't the easiest person to take care of but Melissa stepped in and handled her very well. Her adaptability and kindness with a hint of sarcasm was a breath of fresh air. Her passion for providing comfort and capacity to love are her superpowers. My mom passed away in 2022 but Melissa is still very much my chosen sister. Rest assured your loved one is in good hands in her care.
