Hi there, my name is Melissa and I am in my final year of grad school, getting my master's degree in occupational therapy. I am passionate about working with people with disabilities and improving their functioning, independence, and quality of life through meaningful activities. One of my favorite tools to use is arts and crafts, but I always gear my approach toward the individual person and their preferences. I used to be a companion for a 35-year-old woman with down's syndrome, and we used to do all sorts of activities. We had so much fun together. I am hoping to do something similar to this again, especially now that I have learned so many valuable skills from school. I will be graduating next year so this is probably my last opportunity to do something more personal and fun (while still beneficial) than clinical.
