About Melissa

I have been an Early Childhood teacher for about 7 years now, and am one of the lucky people who have found their niche in life. I have cared for children as a lead teacher from 8 weeks to 4 years old, each classroom being at maximum state ratio capacity. I believe in learning through play and providing a loving, accepting environment, full of hugs and positive reinforcement. Exercising the mind and the body are of utmost importance, as is teaching proper nutritional habits. For pre-communicative children, or older children with speech delay, I am well versed in both basic and "Baby Signs" sign language, which, I have found, can be repeated back as early as 7 months old. I utilize daily sensory and manipulative activities with the children promote fine and gross motor skills. I currently have a 2 1/2-month-old son and would prefer to provide care in my own home, but will travel to yours provided he can come along. I will be graduating with my AA in Early Childhood Education in the Spring. Currently I have class on Wednesday evenings, but have a friend who is also a fully trained and certified caregiver that is willing and able to fill in for me if needed.
