About Melissa

Hi! My name is Melissa and I'm a licensed clinical social worker with a lifelong passion for working with animals. Before I became a therapist, I was a volunteer foster dog mom for a local rescue. I loved meeting and caring for all the different dogs that came through the nonprofit. I cared for medically complex dogs routinely, including a dog who needed to eat in a custom built high chair and a senior German shepherd with cancer. When I started seeing patients, I quickly realized I needed a calming dog presence in the office to assist me. Soon after, my senior rescue dog became a certified therapy dog and spent his final months getting snuggles and treats from many of my therapy patients and their families. Over 15 years of experience have shaped my approach to animal care, where I prioritize comfort and a consistent routine. I treat each pet as if they were my own while maintaining a safe, stimulating environment. I look forward to meeting you and your companions!
