Melissa watched our twin toddlers from their infancy (~6 months) until they were 1.5 years old as their full time nanny, and continues to babysit for us a few times per month. Pros: Reliable, on time (even when we needed her to arrive for infant wake-up at around 530a), easy-going, patient, kind, smart, flexible. She's not afraid to get her hands dirty in service to her job and has a sixth sense for what the kids might enjoy (sensory bins, art/ craft projects, books). She takes initiative to plan activities and field trips (age appropriate) and provided helpful suggestions for ways to improve the quality of her care (meal suggestions, methods to make learning fun etc). Cooking wasn't something that we required but even still she did occasionally make dinner (on top of lunch, when the kids moved to solid food, and was helpful during the dietary transition). Something that was really important for us was that our caregiver be open to pushing our twins from a developmental standpoint for various milestones: Melissa took that in stride and was creative in encouraging learning and development with our little ones (she also speaks three languages fluently, which we LOVED). The only reason she's not nanny-ing for us full time anymore is because our kids are in preschool -- however they love her so much we still have to have her sit the kids once or twice a month minimum!
