About Melissa
I have over five years' experience tutoring students from ages 8-18. I have tutored students in all disciplines, but specialize in the humanities, social sciences and study skills/test prep. For the last two years, I worked as a writing consultant in a writing center. From 2009-2011, I was in the Teach For America program. I taught 7th grade social studies and reading in McAllen, TX. I have experience with low English proficiency students, reluctant readers and students with mild learning disabilities.
