About Melanie

For over the past 2 decades, I have worked with children ranging in ages from infancy to high school seniors, in a variety of capacities/settings. I pride myself in being able to tailor my work with families to find the balance between teaching kids appropriate behavior, while respecting their need to explore, grow and express their individuality. I started babysitting as a teenager with the Red Cross, and continued through college. I was a full-time nanny in DC for a 2-year-old and his infant brother. 10 years later, I am very close with the family and provide care for the boys. With them, I do school pick-up, homework help, meal/bedtime prep, transportation to/from activities, taking field trips, and overnight care for entire weekends. I have assisted a daycare provider with infants and have worked with other families to provide care for their infants and elementary age children. As an educator in DC, I was a full-time Americorps volunteer, a Middle/High School Special Education teacher, a General Education Math teacher, and an administrator.
