I have had three semesters of experience working with individuals with disabilities being a student intern and student observer in special needs classrooms. At the elementary level, I have worked with students in both secluded and co-taught settings with a range of disabilities including ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, developmental delays, etc. At the middle school level, I have worked with students with similar needs also including emotional/mental illness. I have found absolute joy in working with individuals and students with disabilities because I found that I do love teaching and being in a classroom but my real passion is understanding a person and pushing them to become the best version of themselves. I believe education is greater than just academics and I found that working in special education is the perfect medium.
