I recently had to make the heartbreaking decision to put down my rescue dog. He came to me with deep trauma that often showed up as fear-based aggression. From day one, I committed to giving him the safety, structure, and love he'd never had. Every walk was a training session, every day filled with enrichment and small steps toward trust. Though we made progress, his wounds ran deep. Still, he tried-and so did I. Losing him was devastating, but our time together sparked a lasting passion for animal care, especially for dogs with behavioral challenges. He taught me patience, emotional awareness, and how to be a calm, observant, and compassionate handler. Now, I'm looking to nurture my animal-loving bones and stay connected to that part of myself.
