About Maya

Hello! I moved to Portland about 5 years ago, and really enjoy the community and nature. I have a lot of personal experience with children through family and friends but for the past two or so years I was working in early childhood education. I have experience with both toddler age (1-2) as well as preschool age (3-5). I have worked with many children who have special needs including physical disabilities, learning disabilities, and who struggle with emotional regulation. I am a firm believer in honesty and building trust with children in my care. I believe that in reaffirming feelings and providing explanations for "why" have helped. I have gone through multiple trainings on both how to engage children, redirect behavior, and help with emotional regulation. I am open with hours as well as communication and am willing to be flexible.
