About Maya

I have a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education Degree and over 10 years experience caring for children. As an infant room teacher in a child care setting, I provided educational experiences and developmentally appropriate activities for infants and cared for their daily needs. I have also prepared lessons, taught, and cared for pre-kindergarten children and toddlers. As a child care director, I applied professional expertise to license, start, and operate a child care facility. I coordinated all necessary inspections, hired staff, provided staff trainings, implemented policies, supervised all staff, and worked cooperatively with families, children, and DJFS. Another job experience that I have had includes serving as an Infant/Toddler Education Specialist where I applied professional expertise in infant and toddler development to assure that every child received high quality opportunities for social, emotional, and intellectual growth based on developmentally appropriate practices. I have also worked as an Early Head Start Family Visitor, where I provided educational instruction and social service referrals to pregnant women and families with children ages birth to three.
