About Maya

I have a Bachelor's degree and a genuine passion for education. I believe strong reading and math fundamentals are the foundation for long-term academic success. In college, I spent four years tutoring K-8 students in after-school programs, and for the past two years I've worked as a substitute teacher, gaining experience with a wide range of learning styles. I especially enjoy working one-on-one, where I can tailor lessons so concepts truly click. As someone with ADHD, I understand attention challenges and am comfortable supporting neurodivergent students with structure and encouragement. I'm also an English language learner, which helps me connect with students who need extra support. My goal is to make learning positive, engaging, and confidence-building.
