About Maya

I am a junior at Rutgers studying Journalism and Media Studies. I grew up and attended K-12 in Brooklyn, NY. Through school programs, I've tutored middle school math, high school English, and college writing. I have 5 years of experience in childcare and love spending time with kids! I believe that children have the potential for much deeper understanding and awareness than they are credited for. I approach learning guidance with respect for the child's capabilities and confidence in their potential. I think that showing this respect and striving for genuine communication encourages children to reach the intellectual standard I set for them. I am a strong believer in the power of education. True understanding and appreciation of knowledge is what shapes a child into an empowered critical thinker. These are the thinkers we need to build a prosperous future, and I am honored to be just a small part of that process.
