About Maya

I'd describe my personality as empathetic, passionate and earnest I like working with kids because they have such a special perspective on the world and I like helping them develop their thoughts and feelings. In my experience kids are very easy to get along with and full of fun ideas. I grew up taking care of my two younger siblings and six younger cousins. This morphed naturally into babysitting for neighbors and family friends, as well as being a camp counselor for three summers. In my spare time, I like to write fiction and poetry, walk my dogs and play role-playing games like Dungeons and Dragons. My favorite thing is to spend time with my sisters. My skills include helping children talk through and understand their emotions, engaging children in communication and storytelling with me, and making sure they feel listened to and taken seriously.
