My name is Maria I have worked as a Direct Support Professional for five years. Most of my experience in special ed population comes from caring for my son with autism. The rest of my experience comes from working in group homes where the population's diagnoses consist of OCD, Autism, Schizophrenia, Bipolar, Mental, Physical, Emotional, and Developmental Challenged clientele. I have also being trained and registered under the state of California as Direct Support Professional. One of the requirements to work with special ed population, is to obtain and maintain a CPR Certification, know about HIPAA confidentiality and be a mandated reporter which means, I must report any type of known and or suspected abuse to the elderly, and disabled population.
