Hello! I'm Maura. After a rewarding 35-year career in education, I now enjoy working one-on-one with students. I have a B. A. in Psychology and experience teaching elementary and middle school students in both classroom and individual settings. I specialize in reading, writing, math, and science, and I'm familiar with today's curriculum, which emphasizes conceptual understanding, problem-solving, and critical thinking. My approach is calm, patient, and encouraging. I strive to help every child feel heard, understood, and confident while building strong academic skills and a love of learning. I'm happy to work with students who have a variety of learning styles. Due to a recent neck surgery, I'm not able to accept positions involving physical or aggressive behavioral challenges. I look forward to helping your child thrive!

I have four children and Maura has been caring for them for many years. Whenever My husband and I have somewhere to go, she is always the one we ask. She is caring, considerate, nurturing, engaging, and they love her so much. She has helped so many times with homework and school projects, and helps the kids break down their work when at times they feel overwhelmed. She has a way of easing their mind and creating positively and her guidance has been so valuable to me as well. Last Christmas we also got two puppies, and when we wanted to go on a few weekend trips, she offered to watch the dogs! She stayed at our house and was so thorough with questions regarding their routine, etc. She even sent us pictures and updates of the dogs (just as she's done with the kids)! Maura is amazing and we feel so lucky to have her in our lives and we are so grateful that we never have worry when leavening our children (and dogs)!
