Hello im Maura! Pronounced like mar-uh. I'm a Seattle native living in Portland. I love my church community, coffee and yoga! I'm a licensed K-3 special education teacher in Beaverton. I teach using methods backed by the science of reading. I teach kids to read by focusing on phonemic awareness not guessing from pictures or memorizing lists. I design my own lessons and move at each child's pace, making sure every skill sticks before building on it. I can help your student build the fine motor skills to make their handwriting fit between the lines. I also offer direct instruction in early math. I teach math strategies. My training in special education means I know how to adjust instruction for students with ADHD, autism, dyslexia traits, and developmental delays.
