About Mary

I'd describe my personality as empathetic, patient, humorous. I like caring for seniors because I am kindhearted and compassionate. I feel that caring for people with Alzheimer's and/or dementia is my second calling. I'm looking for a job that is flexible and enjoyable. I started caring for seniors 5 years ago after retiring from teaching special education for 27 years. In my spare time, I like to spend time with my dog and my cat and friends. I enjoy sporting events and movies. One thing you should know about me is I have very short arms, some arthritis, and am out of shape, so I have limitations when it comes to transferring, lifting, etc. My skills include building a connection and relationship with people suffering from Alzheimer's/dementia, diffusing challenging moments with patience and humor, and possessing empathy which helps me pick up on how the senior is feeling. i. e. frustrated, sad, embarrassed, angry, happy, etc.
