Patient history: I have cared for a patient with MS with wheelchair (1 year), a patient with muscular dystrophy with wheelchair, (3 years as a live-in caregiver) on a ventilator with trache, and a 90-year-old with dementia. (2 years as a live-in caregiver) Experience helping with every single task including transferring from wheelchair to bed by myself (with hoyer lift), suppositories, suctioning and trache care. Helping shower/bathe eat, dress, medication prompting, Driving vans, etc. I have spent my last 3 years working in drug and alcohol treatment centers in detox and sober living. Mary was a lifesaver and I highly recommend her as a caregiver. Mary took care of my Mom who has Alzheimer's. At first it was part-time but then she moved in and essentially became a full-time caregiver. Mary helped my Mom with everything: cooking, dressing, bathing, going to the bathroom, remembering to take her meds, plus whatever else was called for. My Mom was skeptical of having a caregiver at first, but quickly came to consider Mary a member of the family, even if she didn't always remember why she was there. My Mom also loved her companionship and the outings Mary would take her on. I fully trusted Mary and we were both sad when it was time for her to move on.
