About Mary

Mary has taken care of our 2 kids for the last 3 years (with an age range of 7 months to 6 years old), and there are too many positive things to say about her. First and foremost, she genuinely cares for the children under her care. She enjoys their company, the kids make her laugh and smile, and she can hold an impressively long conversation with a nonverbal infant. Second, she is intelligent. She observes how we parent and very naturally adopts it into her own approach to childcare. We believe consistency is important, especially for young kids, and she reinforces the way we speak and coach our kids through all those tough learning moments. Third, she is unbelievably patient. She always speaks to our kids with respect (even when disciplining) and is always engaged and responsive, which is impressive, given the repetition and rambling of toddlers. Fourth, she is fun to be around. She is often dancing and singing just as loudly as the kids, or dressing up, baking, painting, cartwheeling, and making up games with them. She genuinely seems to enjoy their energy and it really shows. Extra bonuses: her level of care and attention extends to pets (we have a dog who adores her), her laundry folding looks like works of art, and she is social for the benefit of our kids (she befriended other local caregivers, and scheduled group play dates with similar aged kids). When we leave our children in her care, we never have to worry that they will be safe, happy, healthy and loved. I recommend Mary with absolutely no reservations and welcome any reference calls.
