I have always had a passion for caring for those with special needs. In high school I was very active in Best Buddies, and was vice president my senior year. I also volunteered as a counselor for two summers at Camp Joy, an overnight camp for children and adults with disabilities ranging from Autism to Down syndrome. At that camp, I was the primary caregiver and helped with activities such as dressing, hygiene, bathroom needs, and feeding. I also have worked with patients in my nursing clinical experience with Alzheimer's, schizophrenia, bipolar, ADD/ADHD, depression and anxiety. My brother also had dyslexia and auditory processing disorder, and I have gained skills from learning from him!
