We were able to keep my father-in-law at home during hospice, which we knew was where he felt most at peace—and where we wanted to stay closely involved in his care. But as his needs increased, we quickly realized we couldn’t do it all alone. We needed help—especially overnight. Inviting a stranger into your home is never easy. Entrusting them with the care of someone you love in such a vulnerable time is harder still. And then came Marlene. From our very first conversation, we felt at ease. Marlene carries herself with a quiet poise and confidence that immediately reassures. She brings deep experience in this field, not just in the tasks required, but in anticipating what’s coming—emotionally and physically—and guiding the family through it. She met our father-in-law’s needs with skill and compassion, and just as importantly, she supported us. She helped us feel informed and in control during a time that can feel anything but. Her communication—before, during, and after each night—was proactive, thoughtful, and always professional. It was clear this wasn’t just a job for her. It’s a calling. Marlene’s role was seamless with our hospice team. In many cases, she was a step ahead, sensing what was needed and preparing us gently for what came next. Her presence brought peace not only to our loved one, but to our whole family. We feel deeply fortunate to have found her.
