Mark has been a lifesaver for me and my husband who has dementia. He has become a "buddy" for my husband who really doesn't have friends any more. My husband opens up around Mark and they have conversations about their mutual love of baseball, jazz and coffee shops. It's essential for my husband to get out of the house and keep moving instead of isolating at home as he would prefer to do. Mark has established a routine including walks on the beach, exploring Carlsbad and playing catch. Mark is a casual surfer guy and my husband feels comfortable around him. First and foremost, Mark keeps my husband SAFE. I grilled Mark when he arrived at our home to take my husband on their first outing several months ago and asked him detailed questions about how he planned to keep my husband safe. Mark's responses gave me confidence in my decision to hire a caregiver/friend. Mark has also stepped in to help me do the "heavy lifting" around our home and always asks what he can do to help me.
