I am a grad student at Mercy University. This summer semester, I am available Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Occasionally I can be available on weekends if given enough notice. I may be available for a few hours on Tues/Thurs depending on school schedule. As a Teacher Aide/paraprofessional at The Children's Center at UCP of Long Island, I am responsible for the care and wellbeing of students aged 2-21 with varying degrees of both cognitive and physical disabilities. I help them meet the goals set for them by the teacher and clinicians via different levels of support. I help with lifting and transferring into many different types of equipment. I also provide different levels of support with feeding and toileting. Different levels of support can include verbal or physical prompting, hand over hand, communication through AAC device, PECs, some sign language.
