About Marissa

I have always wanted to be a teacher and that is something I hope to be in the cards for me. I was a summer camp counselor during the summer of 2023 at an overnight camp. I certified for CPR and wilderness first aid before working with children. I spent the summer with a cabin full of kids that I was responsible for getting up in the morning and putting to bed. Before breakfast, I would get the children ready for their activities, so I had to ensure their bags were packed with everything they needed. At all of the meals I sat with and supervised children. After lunch they would have rest hour and I had to help them wind down and rest before the rest of their day. Some of the activities that I supervise and taught were creative writing, forest fun, music, and arts & crafts. When I was assigned to take a group on a hike, I would prepare the kids prior to the trip and was responsible for them throughout the whole trip as a trip leader with help with another counselor.
