Unfortunately, our experience with this candidate was not positive. She initially seemed like a good prospect, and her background check and records were clear. On the day we agreed to hire her, she shared that she was going through significant personal difficulties and needed financial assistance to secure housing. She asked us to lend her money and, in good faith, we agreed. She committed to repaying us by the end of that week, as she was scheduled to begin working with our family. The following day, she informed us that her personal circumstances had become overwhelming and that she would no longer be able to work with us. She reassured us that she would repay the money and even voluntarily left personal documents with us as assurance that she would do so. It has now been two weeks, and despite repeatedly telling us that she will come by to repay the money, she has not done so and has not followed through on the arrangements she has made with us. We were understanding of the difficult personal circumstances she described and genuinely tried to help her. However, based on our experience, I would encourage other families to exercise caution, particularly regarding any requests for financial assistance before or during employment.
