About Marisa

I was an elementary teacher for 22 years. I taught kindergarten for 18 years and Transitional Kindergarten for 4 years. I did some tutoring for first grade students who were struggling with reading skills. During college I worked in the infant room of the daycare on campus. I worked at a preschool for 2 years. I also worked for two different before and after school programs. I started babysitting at age 10 for my parents' friend's children. I am a mom to a 16-year-old who struggled with reading. I'd describe my personality as caring, empathetic and easygoing. I like tutoring because it allows me to focus on a student's individual needs and goals. In my spare time, I like to read and bake.
