I have always loved being around children. My first job when I was in high school was being a teaching assistant for religious classes. As I went through my education, I continued to explore careers with children and worked as teaching assistant in public schools and did private tutoring and then become a mental health counselor working with children. I have found that is most important to build a trusting relationship with children and always to build off of their strengths. Kids thrive in a positive environment that has both structure and gives them the flexibility to make their own choices and to explore their interests.
