Maria has worked for my family for over 1 year, doing laundry and light housekeeping. She is punctual and reliable each and every week, and she is thorough in her work. She has always been responsive to feedback when I want things done a certain way. 

I pay Maria a set fee each week, and she just stays until the work is done. Some weeks being longer and some shorter depending how much laundry we have that week! I have generally paid other people that help me with housekeeping as a set fee as well. 

Maria and I chatted via Care.com email, text and spoke on the phone multiple times. The first time she was to clean my home, I had to change my schedule so this was not her issue. The second time Maria was scheduled to clean she texted the day before to say that she did not want to work for the hourly amount of $20 that she set during our initial conversation. This second cleaning was set almost a week in advance yet the day before she was to clean she notifies me that she does not want to work by the hour and for the rate she set. I texted her back stating that she could provide an estimate but I received no immediate response. Maria, perhaps was reliable, as noted in the reviews posted several years ago but her more recent posts suggest that she is lacking in integrity and dependability.

This one star review is because I reached out to hire Maria for the job and requested a background check and never heard back. I was very excited about finding her with her amazing reviews, but very discouraged that I never heard back.  It has almost been a week and nothing.  I can't rate her  cleaning or quality of work, but punctuality begins with getting back to someone, and if she can't get back to me quickly, after she reached out to me for the job, then I have to question her dependability.  I would have expected some solid communication, even if it was to tell me she was no longer interested in the job - Mindy J.
