About Maria

Our family hired Maria after my dad was discharged from the hospital after a fall. He had broken his arm and, due to his prior diagnosis of Parkinson’s, was more unbalanced and no longer able to be left without attention. Maria worked to help my dad do his exercises, get out and about for appointments, in and out of the car and shower. She essentially helped my mom to do the things that she could no longer do on her own either. Maria always had a pleasant and positive disposition. Her greatest strength was in that she didn’t allow a discouraging situation to feel heavy and depressing. My dad was uncomfortable accepting and needing help in general and particularly in the shower, however, she professionally managed the situation even singing to distract him from feeling self-conscious. The language barrier was a challenge at times, perhaps more so due to my mother’s overwhelm, and may require extra patience. However, she was trustworthy and I believe she genuinely cares in others and does what is right for them.
