About Maria

The sitter took my kids on errands (e.g. doing her food shopping) without asking me (she only watched my kids one hour in the morning before school and one or two hours after school, she had the whole day free to do her personal errands.) Also there were many times when I went to pick up the kids and she was nowhere to be found (she was upstairs or in the basement). The sitter also watched her grandkids at the time, and her daughter harassed my children when she came to pick up her own kids, screaming at them on behalf of a lie her son told her about my sons rather than addressing the matter with the adults involved or discussing it with me. When this occurred Maria was upstairs and did not come downstairs to intervene nor did she come downstairs that day when I came to pick up my children, only replied to me from upstairs when I called out "Maria? Are you here?" She started out seeming very reliable and having decency and integrity, but she turned out to be quite a disappointment. There were also several occasions when her grandchildren were sick (fever, throwing up, diarrhea, etc) and she had them at her home without notifying me that my kids would be sharing a living room with sick kids (one a toddler, who got mucus on toys, etc). I only found out when I picked up the kids at the end of the day and my kids told me (or Maria told me) after it was too late to prevent their exposure to illness. My kids got sick more than once after being babysat alongside her sick grandkids, and I was never once given the courtesy of a heads up, and was deceived into leaving my kids in a sick bay. She could have kept her sick grandkids upstairs in a different room, apart from her paying clients, but she catered to her grandkids at the risk to the health of her paying clients.
