I served as a Corrections Officer for five years in maximum-security and mental health facilities, where I received specialized training in crisis intervention, hostage situations, suicide prevention, inmate de-escalation, and emergency response procedures. This role required strong communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to remain calm and effective in high-stress environments while working with individuals experiencing behavioral and mental health challenges. After transitioning into education, I have worked in CCB and Special Day Class (SDC) settings supporting students from kindergarten through 8th grade. My responsibilities include assisting students with behavioral, emotional, developmental, and mental health needs, implementing behavior support strategies, supporting IEP goals, and helping create safe, structured, and inclusive learning environments that promote student growth and success.
