Sadly, the 104-year-old lady I worked for-and with whom I felt like part of the family-passed away from a stroke on September 14th, even though she remained lucid, mentally active, and socially engaged. Her only issue was mobility; she used a wheelchair following a fall when she was around 80. My duties included bathing, preparing light meals, doing light laundry, accompanying her on light grocery shopping trips, taking her to medical and dental appointments, driving her to church and family social events, and administering daily medication and supplements. My schedule consisted of a 48-hour shift from Wednesday to Friday and a 24-hour shift from Sunday to Monday. I am deeply saddened by her loss but understand that it was her time to go and rest; meanwhile, I need to continue my journey and provide care to others in need. I have no problem working in homes with pets, as I love animals, and I can provide references if needed.
