I'am a former Social Worker who has worked in the helping profession for over 25 years. 10 years ago I retired early and decided I would do some childcare. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed working with kids who were living in healthy and happy environments. As a Social Worker I worked with a wide range of people in need including the elderly and families. I have worked in day care and prepared a safe and suitable environment for children living in homeless shelters. I have facilitated task oriented child play and implemented a variety of activities to increase the social, emotional, and intellectual development of children. Most importantly, I am a compassionate and perceptive individual with a great sense of humor. I have good organizational skills and the ability to be flexible. Margaret (Maggie) has been an absolute blessing to our family, caring for our two daughters for the past seven years. She is excellent with newborns, babies, and young children. The only reason she is looking for additional work is that our kids are now in school during the day, and we are keeping her on part-time because we simply cannot imagine our household without her. Any family in the area needing morning or early afternoon care would be incredibly lucky to hire her. Here is why: -She instantly connects with kids: Children become very fond of her very quickly. We referred her to a friend last year, and their toddler son (now in pre-k) immediately adored her. -She is fully present: Maggie is mature, deeply responsible, and actively engages in play and educating kids rather than being distracted by her phone. -She takes initiative: She consistently goes above and beyond by being flexible and proactively helping around the house with various chores, which has been a huge help to us.
