About Margaret

Experience: 10 yrs

Hello! I am a former teacher and seasoned nanny. I have 5 years of experience teaching public school, including both special and general education and all grade levels k - 6. I ultimately found that teaching wasn't as rewarding for me as working in homes as a childcare provider. I absolutely love nannying. I have been doing childcare in general for over 20 years and nannying for over 15 years. I love being on a child's level and seeing things from their point of view. I am a big developmental psych nerd, applying best practices with regard to attachment and nervous system organization. I run the day in a structured way, focusing on maintaining a serene, playful, safe and organized tone, picking battles carefully and providing activities that will meet needs depending on where they are each day. I am hands on and love to play, sing, dance, snuggle, read books, work on art and explore outside. I am flexible and highly communicative. I look forward to working with your family!

Margaret was our full-time nanny for years, dealing with twins and a family with quirks, needs, communication styles, comfort that was daunting to translate when looking for someone to join ours. She exceeded what I couldn't even imagine for that one-to-one care. We work from home and went through so much as she joined when the kids were 9 months old. She's made us better caregivers for our own kids, and has set us up for success. I can't imagine caring for my kids without her. Here are some details about her: Qualifications, a lot of them! Early Childhood Education professional, Special Ed experience, helped implement Montessori at home and school. Deep knowledge of RIE, sleep training (Ferber, Sleepwave, Possums), baby-led weaning, and potty training (Oh Crap! method). Experienced She's cared for newborns, babies with special needs, and multiples. Experienced with nanny shares, first-time parents, in-home and remote-working parents, multilingual (augment OLPP, one language per parent techniques with resources and activities in other languages) and multicultural families. She collaborates with healthcare and other professionals, programs, really well, and her help has been unknowingly recognized multiple times from pediatricians, etc, under my kids care, for ex. Comfortable managing errands, appointments, driving to activities, and more outdoor time than you could believe was possible in western washington. Technical Margaret builds systems, researches methods, adapts to family needs, and supports evolving parenting goals. She adapts to how the family would want to collaborate on curriculum, direction in mediums that may work for you: parenting book club, weekly checkins, running group chats, and helping troubleshoot as events and family situations change and impact care. Care, with Bounds She creates a secure, attachment-based environment where kids thrive. She helps where you may want the caring to align, from science-based parenting, cultures, arbitrary quirks (we had plenty of those), winging it, etc. She can monitor air quality, flu spread, allergy season, whatever is of concern and you'd want her to adjust activities around. ------ I really want Margaret to end up where her skillset, warmth, and neverending drive continues to spread quality environments that goes beyond one on one attention.
