My special needs experience is now over 10 years old, but it is something I care deeply about and would love to pursue again. When I was 21 I worked for a company called Willow's Way in St. Charles Missouri that provided in home care for adults with special needs. I was the lead in a home with two clients who were non verbal and needed help with all daily living activities. I also provided back up care in multiple other homes. I had multiple trainings in not only care but also being considerate as part of this position. As a nanny I've had experience helping and following a strict ABA therapy program for autism. I'm currently going back to school for a nursing degree so will have my CNA by winter. I'm passionate about being a caregiver and find that I have a true gift in understanding nonverbal communication which has helped me with both my adult and infant charges. I feel my understanding of nonverbal language also helps me communicate better with those who are verbal also.
