About Makena

Hi, my name is Makena and I am 25 years old! I have been working with children/ families for the past 5 years now and am looking for more work opportunities in Mendocino County. I'd describe my personality as kind, optimistic and humorous. I began my professional career in 2021 as an AuPair and that continued until 2023. From Early 2023 I continued my work as a nanny for another 2 years with multiple families in my small town of Laytonville. My skills include effective communication, patience and emotional regulation, and safety awareness. Being able to communicate with young children is something I have learned is incredibly valuable. Making sure they are heard when they need to be heard is everything to their emotional development and learning. And above all else is safety awareness. This is clearly the most important skill I put above all else. I have been trained for adult and child CPR and first aid. My license has expired, but am looking to get my certification renewed.
