I will start with saying: I hope she is okay. We interviewed her and talked to the references over phone as we are not from South Bend area. We were going there for a math conference at ND over the last weekend. I talked to Makayla over the phone and was in contact with her via text messages. I even talked to a couple of references that she provided. We hired her for 9 hours and decided her pay also (whatever she asked was reasonable). I was totally dependent on her care as we did not respond to the other applicants. On our way to the hotel (a night before), I texted her that we were on our way to the hotel and would be in contact with her with a room number etc. I did NOT receive any response. So I started calling her to confirm, and it was going directly to her voice message and the message box was full. The following morning (when she was supposed to babysit from 2pm-5pm), I texted her again, and called her multiple times but no response until now. She basically ruined our conference.
