Madison showed up to clean my apartment with her mother. At first I thought they might be working together but her mother sat on the floor & did not work. I gave quite clear & simple instructions: My son is immunocompromised. I needed every single surface cleaned and disinfected from five feet high abs below. My son is a tall 4 year old and still teething. He touches everything then puts his fingers in his mouth. I needed a "deep clean" of all areas in every room, closets included. Madison would not give me an hourly rate. Instead she rather slyly emphasized how she wanted to do a very good job for me with out the stress of going over the hours I expected her to work. She gave me a flat rate of $100 to clean my newly constructed, completely vacant 2 bedroom apartment with me providing all cleaning supplies & equipment. I should have known better than to hire some one so young. Evidently Madison did not think 4 year old boys touch toilets or showers or base boards. Is the it an assumption to think that not every "cleaning professional" considers cleaning base boards as part of a "deep clean?!" Is it not common sense that small children also touch base boards?! Obviously her mother did not teach this young lady what a thoroughly sanitized house entails! The cherry on top was the big con! I paid $100 for 2.5 hours worth of work!! That is $40 PER HOUR!! My husband was there with a ladder to help her clean the tall areas that were full of construction dust like the fans & tops of the cabinets. I was livid when he told me that he tipped her $20!!! He had to face time me to tell her to clean he toilets. She had the audacity to tell him I didn't mention the toilets or shower in the job description! Seriously?! That is the place my son touches numerous times daily & puts his hands in his mouth! What kind of a child care giver doesn't know that?! I hope Madison doesn't plan to have children any time soon. They would be in danger of E. coli related illnesses! I only hired her because I injured my ankle abs we just moved to the area from Houston. My nanny (who is an immigrant and successful mother of a doctor & engineer) had her sister's wedding to attend and could not drive in. I highly recommend anyone looking for a house keeper or nanny look to a more experienced professional. Also be leery of her "rates" and definitely agree on an hourly rate, lest you end up paying $50 per hour! I just get chills thinking of what a horrible job she would have done if I left her alone to clean. Abs what is the deal with bringing her "mommy"?! If the woman is going to accompany Madison, she should get off her but & help her clean properly. It was completely unprofessional to come along. Had my husband not been there the mother would have most assuredly been a distraction. My husband complained that the mother was distracting him with idle conversation. My poor husband arrived home exhausted abs had to return the next day to spend 3 hours cleaning the base boards. That is what I paid Madison to do! I've hired cleaning and child care professionals from services and care.com for over 13 years. Never have I had such an awful experience. I feel cheated out of money! I hired two others from care.com before Madison. Both of whom canceled at the last minute. We had to pay extra to reschedule our move back a week. Thank goodness Mr. D. from the movers went out of his way to help us. He is looking to hire professional cleaners to do "make ready" and "move out" cleans. I had recommended care.com. However, after my horrible experience with Madison I have since rescinded my recommendation. It's true what they say. "Good help is hard to find."
