About Mackenzie

Hello there! I'm Kenzie, a Co-Founder and Lead Toddler Teacher at Fledglings Montessori School in York, ME. Myself and some wonderful colleagues opened our school in September 2025. We offer a dual curriculum of Montessori and nature-based education. I have been working with children since 2017. Before Fledglings, I spent about four years in other Montessori and Reggio Emilia schools. I have also spent time at a forest school, elementary substitute teaching, spending my summers as a camp counselor, and coaching and acting as Director for Soccer Shots in various territories. I hold a Masters degree in Natural Resources: Forestry from UNH, and I am currently working through a year-long training program with Northeast Montessori Institute to earn my Infant Toddler Montessori credential. When people ask why I like working with children, I respond with the term "parallel-learning". I would argue that we have just as much to learn from children as they have to learn from us!
