As a parent and former foster parent, I have done all kinds of caregiving for 3 decades. My experience with senior care began with my own parents. I cared for both my father, who suffered from the ravages of diabetes and eventually, congestive heart failure, and my mother who suffered from Alzheimer's Disease for nearly 5 years. In October 2023, I accepted a part-time caregiving position for a 92-year-old woman who suffers from the effects of diabetes and old age. I have enjoyed this position as I have grown to love her dearly. As her needs have increased, her family has made the decision to move her to a care facility. This is breaking my heart, but I understand the need for around-the-clock care for her at this stage. This job has been very fulfilling and I would love to continue giving this kind of care to help others with similar situations.
