I began babysitting when I was 12 years old for my first born nephew. At 15 I gave up my summer to nanny my then 3-year-old nephew and my 9-month-old niece. Around that same time I was also regularly sitting for a family with 4 kids and babysat regularly another family with a young 7+ year old son. I have also raised 2 of my own children who are now 21 and 25. And I watch friends' 2-year-old daughter when they need help. In addition, I was blessed to help care for my grandfather. He lived in an a couple of assisted care facilities as he aged, but I would take him to appointments and run errands. I sat with him when he was ill and was regularly by his side in his last days. He passed in 2011 at 96. I now do similar for my mom who is in her 80's. Although she is healthy, she no longer drives so I take her to run errands, to appointments, and fun things too. She is great about scheduling around my work schedule so that should not be an issue.
