I have worked with kids who have special needs at home during my time at Big Brothers Big Sisters. Last Summer, I also had an autistic camper in my group during while working as a counselor. These experiences showed me how loving these kids are. Although sometimes they aren't able to express themselves the way they'd like, all of them have something very beautiful to offer. I think when caring for those with special needs, patience is key. If the caregiver keeps getting frustrated, nothing will be accomplished and the child will not feel comfortable. I believe I am very patient and can offer great care for a child with special needs.
