I have worked with three children's homes in the past: April 1999 - June 2000, I was the head house mother of 30 girls and 15 boys. I left due to having a baby of my own and personal reasons; August 2005 - June 2007, I was a counselor, teacher, life skills. I worked with children that had special needs; July 2007 - October 2011, I was a youth counselor, teacher, mother to these boys. As an educator, I supported the youth's educational goals and encouraged youth to engage in lifelong learning. This was demonstrated through activities such as assisting youth in completing college applications and leading personal growth and development activities. As a role model, during the course of a work day, I would demonstrate appropriate social skills, spoke positively about the facility and their coworkers and lead by example. This included following through with job responsibilities, knowing the rules and applying them fairly and consistently and offering support and assistance to my colleagues and youth. I provided rehabilitative activities and structured programming and it was the key to every participant, in the Interdisciplinary Team meetings. As a mentor, I was able to build relationships with the youth, serving as a coach or a life guide. This was demonstrated through giving strength-based feedback, assisting in completing a job applications, conducting mock job interviews, leading activities that recognized a youth's strengths and encouraging youth participation. I have five daughters of my own. I love children. I am a pastor's wife and I work in children's church every week as the director. Children love and relate with me.
